Curtis is the daughter Carmencita Ojales, a Filipina native to Bolinao Pangasinan, and James Ernest Curtis Smith, an Australian lawyer. She was born at Yarrawonga located in Victoria, Australia. The father of her mother was engaged to Ojales in 1982. Jasmine the younger sister performs as an actress. Clare was a sister-in-law on the family of their father. Clare passed away at the age of four months old in the year 2007.
